Can I convert a Lefty SuperMax 140mm to 160mm travel? If you have a 2016 or 2017 Lefty SuperMax, the answer is yes. And you could convert a 160mm down to a 14omm travel as well. Previous SuperMax versions cannot be converted using this same procedure and parts.
All that needs to be changed is the size of the upper air seal and the volume reducers at the bottom of the lower leg. See the images below.
- The upper seal length is 30mm on the 160mm configuration and 50mm on the 140mm configuration. You can simply trim the bottom of the 50mm down or replace that part entirely.
- The #2 volume reducers are different per travel length and vary by headtube length (which size frame the Lefty fits).
